sometimes also known as Emmarita Castle, it is an ancient fortification located on the Marturan promontory.

History
The castle, built by Count Roger II, suffered severe damage in the 1783 earthquake, but was later rebuilt as a palace. The castle is the venue for artistic and cultural events.
The external structure features an exposed brick façade, with ogival mullioned openings incorporating stone jambs, tufa ashlars and lava stone.
In ancient times, the castle was guarded by two rows of crossbowmen who stood on the wall battlements, equipped with artillery pieces, and there were twelve bronze cannons around it called ‘the twelve apostles’. The entrance was equipped with a drawbridge.
